Cub Scout Pack 1229
Falls Church, VA.
Welcome to Cub Scout Pack 1229
Pack 1229, located in Falls Church, Virginia, is chartered by the Congressional School of Virginia (www.congressionalschool.org) located at 3229 Sleepy Hollow Rd, Falls Church, VA 22042. We currently have approximately 45 Scouts (both girls and boys) in grades K-5 from multiple schools around the Falls Church area.
Pack 1229 is active year-round and has lots of activities for the entire family. Activities include parades, overnight camping trips, hiking, community service projects such as Scouting for Food, Rise Against Hunger meal packaging, nursing home visits and local community cleanups. The Scouts also enjoy the Pinewood Derby, snow tubing, attending local sporting events and exploring new places to name just a few. During the summers we have at least one Pack activity per month such as attending Scout summer camp, cookouts, hikes and a Pack picnic/fun day. Our Scouts also raise funds for the Pack through Popcorn Sales during the first several months of the school year.
The Cub Scout Pack is made up of Dens. Each Den consists of 6-12 Scouts of the same grade or age. The Lions den, being made up of Kindergarteners, is our youngest group. When they move into first grade, they become Tiger Scouts. Second graders are Wolves, third graders are Bears, fourth graders are Webelos and our fifth graders are Webelos II.
Den meetings are typically the first Thursday of each month from 6:30 -7:30 pm at Congressional School. Our Pack meetings generally are held on the third Thursday of the month at Congressional School. Each den will also have additional meetings throughout the year to work on advancement requirements and go on other outings as a Den.
